Excursions In Malindi

1. Vasco Da Gama Pillar : One of Africa's oldest European monuments, built in 1498 by the Portuguese explorer. A single ticket via E-Citizen grants entry here, to the Portuguese Chapel, and the museum.

2. Malindi Museum : A preserved building in the old town showcasing Swahili artifacts, Mijikenda culture, and underwater heritage exhibitions.

3. Gede Ruins : Located just south of town, these are the atmospheric, moss-covered remains of a 12th-century Swahili walled city hidden inside a lush forest.

4. Malindi Marine Boat Ride : Perfect for glass-bottom boat rides, snorkeling, and diving amongst rich coral gardens filled with sea turtles. Boat trips often include a seafood barbecue on a temporary sand island.

5. Hells Kitchen : A spectacular, naturally eroded sandstone canyon situated about 30 km outside Malindi. The jagged, multi-colored gorges are best visited at sunset when the rocks glow deep red.

6. Mambrui Sand Dunes : Golden, rolling sand dunes that directly meet the waters of the Indian Ocean. It is a popular spot for quad biking, photography, and beach strolls.
